“I had been considering my medical procedure for years, but because of the difficulty of researching procedures, doctors, and facilities I had continued to put it off until I ran across Global MD. I had started to do some of my own research and decided that if I was going to take this leap of faith, Global MD was the right company to take care of me during the journey.
From my first contact with my Global MD Care Coordinator, I knew I had made the right decision. My Care Coordinator immediately put me at ease by patiently answering all of my many questions knowledgeably. It was obvious that Global MD had spent a lot of time researching doctors and locations. Global MD provided me all of the information I needed about doctors and facilities to make an informed decision.
Once I had decided, my Care Coordinator took care of everything from travel planning, appropriate accommodations, ground transportation, organizing my medical appointments, and everything in between.
A friendly English-speaking guide met me at the airport and took me directly to my first consultation. Even though I knew that with the help of my Global MD Care Coordinator I had made a great decision, Dr. Peralta far exceeded my expectations. Dr. Peralta is kind, gentle and caring. I have never met a more compassionate, thorough and attentive doctor. All in all, he spent nearly six hours consulting with me about the procedures I would have while in Costa Rica. The first day we spent three hours discussing every detail of the procedures, then I visited with a cardiologist to get clearance for surgery and had blood work and ultra sound done. The next day, I returned to his office where we discussed by test results and together we went step by step through the surgery plan. He went to great lengths to ensure that I was entirely comfortable with the care I would receive.
Dr. Peralta’s perfectionism permeates his entire practice. From the moment I walked into the reception office, his entire staff treated me with the utmost hospitality and consideration, like I was a guest in their home, not a medical patient. The offices literally sparkle they are so bright, fresh and clean. I did not know that medical care could be like this. Dr. Peralta’s nurse, Melitina Bonilla was a real treat. I think she has been with Dr. Peralta forever, because they worked together like a well-oiled machine.
My recovery experience was also great. Global MD was in touch with me every day either by telephone or email. I always knew I was in the most capable hands. My Care Coordinator even sent the most beautiful bouquet of flowers to my room.
The staff at the recovery facility was friendly and accommodating. Even when my needs could not be met immediately, they were always eager to please. My husband and I had such a terrific time. Within a few days of my surgery I was up and about the beautiful grounds. I was even able to take in some of Costa Rica’s breathtaking natural wonders during rainforest and waterfall tours.
While I was in Costa Rica, we had a family emergency and because I was recovering better than I could have ever expected and was released early by Dr. Peralta, I wanted to go home. Global MD responded immediately with ease and confidence and took care of all of the arrangements to get me home early. Thank you.
